OK, without boring everyone with too many intimate details of my medical sagas, I saw a second doctor who was a neuro-otologist the next day. Apparently my hearing had improved since the previous day, but I still have ringing (tinnitus). This obvious fluctuation in my hearing paired with the rest of my history indicates I likely have Cochlear ( Read more... )

 
Apparently, unfortunately, sadly, I have found out that my recent ear clogging actually seems to be Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss. Going on high doses of prednisone for two weeks. Recovery is questionable. Also going to seek out a second opinion.

This sucks. It is very disorienting.

I am sad, pissed and scared.

As if you didn't know that already. But I do tend to panic at the drop of a hat. The week after 9/11 I bought gas masks and went into a depression as I literally had convinced myself that it was the end of the world (literally, yes). I bought surgical masks for opening my mail. I have many email addresses and some are probably more than 15 years old. As a result, I get a lot of spam - probably hundreds of messages per day. I pre-filter incoming email with a program called Mailwasher, and screen and delete spam before even retrieving it from my mail servers ( Read more... )
